Mobile Alabama :: House of Horrors

October 24th, 2007 by Rachel

Murder…demons…possessed clowns…cannibalistic freaks and masked men with chainsaws… Just a small taste of what we get to be a part of when we go to Mobile, Alabama and help the Mobile Masters Commission scare the hell out of people. Literally. The first half of the house is all about the thrill of being scared: skeleton-like guides, people who have been sawn in half, and unexpected assailants make this part of the house seem like something out of a nightmare. Simply stumbling down a dark hallway suddenly becomes one of the most horrifying things in the world. After raising someone from the dead, the dynamic of the house switches gears, and reaches to the souls of the people walking through. A man “escapes” from hell for a moment, screaming out in pain and frustration before being dragged back, as to why nobody ever told him about Jesus… People in chains are being tortured by demons-crying out with no release. Reality scenes of suicide, substance abuse, cutting and domestic violence speak to people where they are-it’s real life. The end of it all ties the whole house together, pointing to the cross and the Savior who so willingly laid down His life for our sin. Each year between 15-20 thousand people pass through, and thousands of people are saved.

Nicaragua

June 1st, 2007 by Rachel

This summer we went on a week-long missions trip to Managua, Nicaragua. We met up with the Master’s Commission there and stayed at the King’s Castle campus. We spent our days ministering to kids on the streets in different neighborhoods and our nights doing street services. We learned dances to Spanish songs and did hilarious skits to open the children’s hearts. The best part of this trip was not that we went and changed lives in Nicaragua. Rather, we went and had our lives changed because of the ministry times, and we were all touched by the sacrificial hearts of the Nicaragua Master’s Commission. They gave everything they had, so that we could be comfortable, just to assist them in ministering to their own people.
